Meter behavior, pressure testing, isolation, and operating conditions help determine whether a pressurized system is losing water.

CLUES WORTH INVESTIGATING
Water can move along vapor barriers, cracks, utility trenches, reinforcement, flooring systems, and the slab surface. Heat can spread beyond a hot-water line. Sound can transmit through concrete and connected piping.
That is why a single thermal image, damp area, or loud point should not be treated as the whole answer. Stronger findings come from agreement between several observations.

Pipe material, depth, leak rate, system pressure, building noise, floor coverings, access, and slab construction all affect which methods are useful.
Confirms whether a section loses pressure and helps separate hot, cold, heating, irrigation, or other systems.
Uses specialized microphones and sensors to evaluate sound produced by escaping pressurized water when conditions allow.
Compares temperature and moisture patterns that may support—or challenge—a suspected route or source.
A specialized option for suitable isolated lines when sound is weak, pipe material is difficult, or other evidence is inconclusive.
Helps estimate the route of conductive or traceable lines before leak evidence is interpreted.
Larger or accessible systems may benefit from correlation, controlled flow observations, or other targeted diagnostics.
